The Center for Innovation in Assessment has more than ten years experience in working with academic standards.  We have worked on standards development and evaluation for the State of Indiana, and we also have experience creating resources for use with standards and in conducting the formal linking of assessments to state standards.  Let us put our experience to work in meeting your needs, whether it is for standards development, evaluation, or alignment. The information below provides an overview of some of our previous projects.

Standards Development
The Indiana Department of Education sought CIA's assistance in developing and evalauating the state's Academic Standards. These Academic Standards serve as the benchmarks for student academic progress and the basis for curriculum and assessment programming throughout the state of Indiana. CIA also recently assested the Indiana Department of Education in developing Core Content Standards for the state.

Standards Resources
Indiana's Academic Standards Resources are materials for teachers to use in aligning classroom instruction and assessment to Indiana’s Academic Standards. The Standard Resources include Classroom Activities and Classroom Assessments. The Classroom Activities (Curriculum Frameworks and Marco Polo Lesson Plans) are a series of instructional activities to aid in the teaching of each standard. The activities include blackline masters and opportunities for incorporating technology, other content areas, and additional standards indicators. The Classroom Assessments are modular in design and can be used to test a particular standard or topic.

Standards Alignment
CIA has experience evaluating the alignment of assessments to state standards.  In the summer of 2008 we hosted an alignment summit, bringing together a panel of experienced educators to formally align our Test of Primary Reading Outcomes (T-PRO) to state standards.
