KINDERGARTEN OPTIONAL WRITING ASSESSMENT

There are 2 optional writing administrations for kindergarten. These writing components are scored at the school level and used as schools deem appropriate. Each writing prompt has 4 files as described below.

1. Student prompt: This includes workspace for students to organize their thoughts before writing, as well as space for the students to repond to the prompt.
2. Teacher directions: These directions should be read to students before they begin to write.
3. Rubric: This provides guidelines for scoring the students’ writing.
4. Scoring Samples: These provide examples of student responses along with annotations regarding scoring.
