Phonemic Awareness: Students are asked to identify beginning and ending sounds in words, to identify rhyming words, and to identify phonemes in a word.

Sample A

Phonics: Students are asked to identify beginning, ending, medial, and vowel letter sounds.

Sample B

Vocabulary: Students are asked to identify words, complete sentences, and to identify the word that does not belong.

Sample C

Comprehension: Students are asked to read sentences, matching them with the correct picture and to read passages and answer questions about them.

Sample D

Fluency: Students are asked to read a passage aloud for one minute. This section measures fluency rate (by the number of words correct per minute), fluency behaviors (through a fluency rubric), and oral reading comprehension (through oral questions).
