How do I limit my search results?

What program do I need in order to view or print resources?
A majority of the resources contained in I-LRN are in PDF format and will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat Reader, then you can download it for free at
www.adobe.com.
A very small number of documents may be in Microsoft Word format. Many word processors can open this format. You can also download the free Word Viewer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/. Search for "Word Viewer".
How do I save a resource once I’ve opened it?

First, choose the grade level you’re looking for. Next, select the content area (English, mathematics, etc.). Finally, select the standard indicator and click "start searching."
Is there a place where I can see all of the resources for one content area?
Yes, just go to the "browse" page and select the subject from the list under "content area."
What determines whether a resource is found when I perform a search?
If you perform a free-form search, by typing text in the quick search boxes, the system will search among the resources for any of the words you entered. In addition to searching the text of the resource, the system also searches for any resource with a matching description, keyword, title, and other metadata.
If you use the Search page to perform your search, you can limit which fields are used in the search. For example, to find materials for First Grade, rather than typing in "1" into the search box, you might simply select "First Grade" from the Grade Level search box.
How are search results sorted?
Presently, the results are sorted by search score, with better matches listed first. The search score considers a number of factors, including:
- the number of times the search query appears in the resource
- how unique the words are across the entire collection
- if more than one word was entered, resources that match more words score higher
- if a quoted phrase was entered, resources that match the entire phrase score higher, followed by those that match individual words.
What is the little "ASAP" icon for that shows up next to my search results?
The ASAP stands for Accountability System for Academic Progress and is linked to the Indiana Department of Education’s web site that contains all of Indiana’s Academic Standards.
